Taylor Society recognizes and honors individuals who have included SAGE as a beneficiary of their estate planning. By giving to SAGE through a variety of planned gifts, Taylor Society members leave a legacy and make a timeless commitment to support current and future LGBT older adults.
Presenting panelists are dedicated professionals committed to promoting charitable giving and careful planning within our community. All material will be presented as educational, not intended to advertise, solicit, or appeal to support any particular organization.
Erica Bell is a former SAGE board of directors member, current SAGE planned giving subcommittee member and a partner at the law firm of Weiss, Buell & Bell. Her primary areas of practice includes: trusts and estates; estate planning; non-traditional family law; and, domestic partnerships.
Educated at the Fordham Law School (’83), Ms. Bell is a frequent lecturer on trusts and estates topics, especially issues pertaining to domestic partnerships and non-traditional families. Ms. Bell holds professional memberships with The Association of the Bar of the City of New York and Lesbian and Gay Law Association (“LeGal”) of Greater New York; among many others.

John Gottman, Vice President - Senior Financial Advisor, started with Merrill Lynch in January, 2002 after a long career as Sales and Managing Director at RR Donnelley Financial. He has been working in the financial services industry since 1988, and currently focuses two-thirds of his advisory business helping the needs of the LGBT community as it relates to estate planning and investment management. He earned an MBA from DePaul University, Chicago, IL in 1995, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, NY. John has a decade of experience partnering with Trusts and Estates attorneys to provide educational seminars to local and national organizations, including non-profit groups and high net worth clients. John is also a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, and enjoys sailing in his free time.

Tom Sciacca is a current member of the SAGE planned giving subcommittee, principal at the Law Offices of Thomas Sciacca, PLLC and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Paralegal Studies at New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS). Mr. Sciacca is a volunteer attorney with the SAGE Legal Clinic and has participated in a variety of seminars on topics including: Wills, Trusts and Estates; Health Care Proxies and Living Wills; Sophisticated Tax Planning; and, Estate Planning for Members of the LGBT Community.
Mr. Sciacca holds professional memberships with New York State Bar Association, New York County Lawyers Association and Lesbian and Gay Law Association (“LeGal”) of Greater New York, among many others.
